Furthermore, good study habits fill students with more confidence and higher self-esteem.
Therefore, it is advised to plan study time to give more time to their hobbies and learn new skills.
HERE ARE A FEW TIPS FOR DEVELOPING GOOD STUDY HABITS:
1. EVALUATE THE SYLLABUS
Before planning what and when to study, students must prepare a list of subjects they need to prepare for and how many hours of study time each subject will require. Then calculate the time you have left for the exam and strategize how to cover the syllabus.
2. PRIORITISE SUBJECTS AND EXAMS
There is always one subject that will need more time than the others. Students must prioritize the subject they feel is more challenging and requires more practice. It is crucial to determine what can wait and what not to develop an effective study routine.
For instance, solving mathematical problems for one hour a day.
3. PLAN WHEN YOU’RE GOING TO STUDY
Planning is always essential for students to achieve their desired goals. Therefore, a student must plan how many hours and what they will study and then stick to that routine. In addition, it develops a sense of responsibility and accountability among students and helps them achieve bigger goals.
4. KEEP PLENTY OF TIME
Students preparing weeks in advance should try to get in-depth knowledge of the concepts rather than just memorizing them. It will help them to achieve their academic and personal goals. Also, one with conceptual understanding can perform better in any school or university entrance exam.
5. FIND A CALM PLACE TO STUDY
Students need to keep their study time free from distractions. Therefore, they must find a corner in the house which is calm and free from outside and inside distractions. Also, students can join libraries to organize their study plans. It is also advised to keep mobile phones silent to avoid social media notifications.
6. ALWAYS MAKE YOUR NOTES
Making notes while studying helps students to stay focused and analyze what they have learned. It will also help them to recall the concepts during the exams. Students can make their own bullet system to mark their notes using multiple numbers (Arabic, Roman, or symbols. Utilize symbols and abbreviations to make notes shorter. It is also advised to use creativity while making notes by creating images, thought bubbles, or anything else that draws their focus to crucial subjects.
7. TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH
It is advised for students to keep their health in check because their goals can only be achieved when they are fit. Therefore, they should eat and sleep well. They should also try to do a little bit of exercise to stay healthy and keep their brains active.
8. BE SLOW AND STEADY
There is no harm in being slow or taking time to learn a new concept or topic. Still, students must make sure that they understand the concepts in small chunks and keep reviewing them over a longer duration and must be steady in this approach as it will reduce a lot of stress before examinations.
Once students complete a particular topic or a few chapters, it’s always advisable to self-evaluate “what they have learned?”. For this, students must assess themselves through sample papers or mock test papers by setting a time limit so that they can not only consider the learning but also know about managing time during the exams.
When students develop good study habits, they need not worry about exams and stress about them.
